Adopting Information Technology into the Health Industry

Most people support the adoption of information technology into the healthcare industry, mainly because the government is predicting huge savings. But the savings may not be as large they have predicted. The benefits of integrating information technology into the healthcare system are endless. Costs and cost savings should not be the only focus that speeds up this process. We have seen computers and the internet advance business and extend our corporations into a global society. There is no reason to stop at the healthcare industry. Healthcare is a great portion of our country’s GDP and we should not prevent the system from advancing. The government has talked about regulating this process by requiring all doctors and hospitals to adopt the system.

By regulating this aspect of the healthcare market, the government will create great limitations that will prevent growth and innovation. The government has already done enough by regulating the insurance markets in states like New Jersey. Other states like New Jersey that have had their markets regulated suffer from sky-high rates, making insurance unaffordable for many people and families in the states. In order to spark innovation and entrepreneurial minds, they need to allow a free market which can pursue to develop the very best product to effectively resolve the confusion and unnecessary costs in the healthcare system.
