What can November change for our countries Healthcare?

It seems obvious enough that John McCain will be representing the Republicans in the race for the White House in 2008. But the Democrats racing for the presidential election are still in process and the race is tight. Clinton and Obama may disagree on many topics, particularly healthcare. But is their healthcare reform even that different. Sure, Clinton will impose a mandate on all citizens to possess health insurance just as we are forced to acquire auto insurance. But how far is Obama’s plan from Clinton’s?

Obama’s reform will focus on our countries children. Focusing on education and forcing parents to obtain health insurance for their children. Really though, from a democratic standpoint, how different are these plans. Sure, in reality, they are different. But in an election, you can’t have the same plans as your opponents. Obama’s plan is moderate while Clinton’s is an extreme version of the same plan. The ultimate plan of most representatives for the Democratic Party is a socialized healthcare system, providing access to health insurance to every American citizen. Obama’s plan is merely a stepping stone toward their overall goal while Clinton’s plan is straight to the point.

Regardless of whom the Democratic candidate is their overall goal will be a nationalized healthcare system. The Republican candidate will promote the free market our country was built on to lower the cost of healthcare and thus provide access to more citizens.
