Prioritizing Family Expenses
A Colorado family, with three children recently dropped their health insurance coverage when premiums jumped up to $450 per month. The Christian family has a puppy and a mortgage of $1,250 per month. They are also considering having another child in the near future. The father, Matt, is a construction worker with an annual income of about $40,000. The mother, Aubrey, is a stay at home mom with a graphic design degree.
Why is it that a family of five with two parents who have the ability to contribute to the household income, choose to home school their children? The problem here is not the state’s policies on health insurance and the need for more affordable state funded health insurance. Yet, the need here is for family members with financial earning potential to get to work and earn financials for the family. A college graduate with a degree in graphic design has created many opportunities for themselves. Yet they choose not to take advantage of the opportunities created.
This further expands on our economic and healthcare issues we have in this country. Our country has more individuals who are more than qualified to work a number of different jobs and contribute to our economy yet, they choose not to work. They choose to be a drain on our economy and exploit the government funded programs that so many politicians deem as necessary.
So rather than expanding your family by adding another child; get to work and contribute to your family’s income. The cost of children is growing each day. It’s time to reevaluate your finances before you decide to have 3 children and a puppy. What will you do when it is time for your children to look into colleges? Will you simply ask the state for finances to fund your children’s college experience, and cause a further drain on society?

Every family in this country should have the right to have one parent at home to raise children. When I was growing up, most families lived on one income. When women fought for equal rights and hit the work place in mass the whole economy changed. Now it is almost impossible for a family to make it with out both adults working and leaving children to their own devices. Maybe we as a society should learn to live with less. We should also all carry no health insurance, the whole country, and see how fast the industry changes. My brother works as a biomed (repairing hospital equipment). Parts he could pick up for $5.00 at a hardware store he has to pay several hundred for through the manufacuturers fo the equipment he is repairing. Who is getting ripped off. We the consumers of medical treatment are getting ripped off by the medical/insurance/manufacturing idustry's as a whole. I say we all drop our insurance and see how fast things can change.
