Employee Benefits for Healthy Living

        After years of rising healthcare prices, employers are finally taking part in controlling their employee’s health. Companies are now offering discounted gym memberships, free health screenings, and other small perks to give employee’s an incentive to take better care of themselves, although it has not had an impact on the cost of healthcare.

        To push employees to live healthier lifestyles, some employees chose to charge employees a fee if they smoked or were living unhealthy lifestyles. After workers rebelled, the employer chose to change the perspective of the fee. Instead of fining unhealthy employees, they chose to pay healthy employees for their efforts. Now, financial incentives to live an active and healthy lifestyle are paying out for many individuals. It may not be a drastic increase of their paycheck but the long-term effects will surely pay off more than the financial bonus. Employees work with company nurses to set goals to create healthier living. Healthy living while maintaining a proper weight for your body has many health benefits that will lengthen your life and prevent many illnesses. Our country has become overweight as the years have gone by, at least we have found one thing to motivate us to become healthy.
