Joe Biden on Healthcare

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, believes has two top priorities for reform. One priority is an exit strategy for Iraq and the other is a focus on a healthcare reform. Biden has prepared a written plan to reform America’s healthcare system. The plan consists of four steps for the country to adopt a universal affordable healthcare system. I will discuss the first two steps of Joe’s plan.

The Four Parts:
  1. Cover all children
  2. Access for adults
  3. Reinsurance for catastrophic cases
  4. Encouraging prevention and modernization

Joe’s plan begins its focus on supplying uninsured children with health insurance. The coverage will extend to a family of four that is 300% below the federal poverty line. The coverage will also offer immediate coverage to uninsured children at birth and will offer families an opportunity to buy into the health plan even they earn too much money. The coverage will also extend coverage to children who are 21 years of age.

By creating new ways for adults to gain access to health insurance, Joe will apply policies to help make healthcare more affordable. To make healthcare more affordable, Joe will implement three different phases for adults. The first plan will be a federally provided health plan that will be priced based on the individual’s income. The federal healthcare plan will be similar to the plan the government currently offers its employees.
